Spring Break!!

March 24, 2006

Spring Break is finally starting for me. I have over a week off from school. Today was a difficult day, I have been up since before 5am and the day is just winding down. Two exams and two quizzes today made the day drag on forever! It is finally over.

So… you probably want to hear my big spring break plans, they include working, sleeping and studying. Sounds fun huh? Speaking of which, I need some sleep. Night everyone.

Okay, so my last post was all about science but there are other things that interest me too.

Social issues are also very intriguing to me. Politics, ethics, and policy also effect everyone’s life. I know many people my age think that politics does not directly effect them but I would argue that they are completely misled. For those of you who live in the United States, you know that it is almost time to pay your taxes (April 17 for those of you who are procrastinators!). Paying those taxes and the programs they support directly impact your life. You may not know where your money goes… if not, I would suggest you educate yourself a little. For example, some of your money goes to support public education… if we did not have public education can you imagine what our society would be like? Without public education the majority of our population would not be able to afford elementary education. This would cause major problems and I am not sure our society would thrive without public education. This is just one of the many reasons our public policy does directly effect all members of society.

I thought I would let you all know what interests me before I get started with the whole blogging thing.

Like it says in my profile I am a student of Biochemistry which means I enjoy the sciences. I think biology is an amazing subject and I think everyone should learn more about biology. I don’t understand how people can live in a world that is filled with science and not be curious about it. To understand why things are the way the are, why things happen… those are the most interesting issues. I know most people think about chemistry and they remember their high school class that was boring or where all they learned was how to blow up their experiment but I have to say there is so much more to know. Chemistry is the basis of everything around you, everything you touch, everything you eat… really just everything. If you are interested in teaching children science principles using an engineering focus, check out TeachEngineering.com. This is a digital library I have worked on for the last few years that incorporates math and science principles into fun, hands-on, engineering experiments and activities.

Blogging, what the heck?

March 22, 2006

So, what is this whole blogging thing about anyway? Do people really want to read what other people are ranting and raving about? I guess so. Well I don’t have much to say in this post but I am sure I will think of something later.
